2020-21: Interior Upgrades

With little to do during the 2020 Covid pandemic year, the GMC became a focus of attention again.

Kitchen Galley:

galley area

Aluminum tiles for a back splash. Sold at Lowes, these come in a variety of designs and the 12'x12" self-stick tiles are easy to install.

Push-in drawer locks:

Got really tired of drawers opening as the coach turned corners...and magnets never seemed to work long! These worked well.

A new in-house water pump:

The old pump was very noisey. So much so that it would wake anyone asleep at night.

This is a comparison of the new and old pumps.

insulated waterpipes

Insulating the water lines...

Adding acoustic foam tiles...

The new pump is quieter, but it still took insulating the water lines and several acoustic foam pads placed in the area to finally dampen the sound to an acceptable level.

Since this water pump is located under the back bench used for a bed, deadening that sound was a big plus...!

Rear Bed Expansion Upgrade:

bed legs

Formerly the rear couch could be widened 12" by utilizing a separately hinged board which was folded under the mattress and when unfolded, supported by detachable legs...

bed platform

To remove the necessity for attaching and detaching those legs, the base platform for the couch/mattress was replaced with a slat-board design.

12" is the most the bed can expand, and still allow the person sleeping in the front bed access to the rear bathroom...
