Interior Designs
GMC offered interiors for the 23' model only in the
first two years of production, 1973 and 1974, for a total of 629 coaches.
Thereafter, the 23' model was sold to third party outfitters as a
transmode: a shell without an intertior finish. For the years 1975
through 1978 the transmode total came to 1016 coaches.
Coachman
was one of those outfitters that purchased transmodes from GMC and finished
the interiors. They offered only two floor plans for the 23' GMC:
This is the side bath interior.
It is a bit cramped, but did offer the option for a wet/dry bath area, and a
double bed in the rear.
And this is the rear bath design.
It offers a bit more aisle space but the tub bath with shower head is
pretty much only usable for pets and children; way too small for the average
adult.
We found the tub most suitable to store stuff!
Our coach was this design. The rear bath was later converted to an
"executive
bath". Interior photos can be found on the Upgrades 2018
page.
